Paweł Mykietyn - Bauhaus Szczecin - Inauguration of the fourth edition of Music.Design.Form Festival
We are announcing a great musical event today! On September 22, at 20:00, Paweł Mykietyn will present his premiere composer performance, "Bauhaus Szczecin". The concert will inaugurate the fourth edition of MDF. Feel welcome! Tickets are available at the Ticket Office and on our website.
Paweł Mykietyn, inspired by the architecture of the Philharmonic building in Szczecin, awarded in 2015 with the Mies van der Rohe, takes up the challenge of transferring the idea of simplicity and accessibility into the field of a musical work in his premiere work. The composition, lasting about an hour, is a game of musical form, timbre, and architectural space. The sounds inspired by Bauhaus are an attempt to find the ideas characteristic of this school in the form of music and space: functionality, innovation, integration with other fields of art, landscape and environment. And beauty, because Walter Gropius (1883-1969), the founder of the Bauhaus, depicted the architect as someone "who would plant gardens in deserts and build miracles to the very sky."

Paweł Mykietyn is one of the most outstanding creators of contemporary music. He studied at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in the class of professor Włodzimierz Kotoński (graduated in 1997). At 22, he debuted at the "Warsaw Autumn" festival with the composition "La Strada". In 1995, the piece "3 for 13" won the first prize at the UNESCO International Rostrum of Composers in Paris in the category of young composers. In 1996, the piece "Epifora" won the 1st prize at the 4th UNESCO International Rostrum of Electroacoustic Music in Amsterdam in the category of young composers.

In January 2000, he received the "Polityka Passport" award. His composition "3 for 13" was presented at the Midem Classique in Cannes in the same month. In 2011, he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta. In 2012, he received the prestigious Prix France Musique Sacem for the music to the film "Essential Killing" by Jerzy Skolimowski.

In 2015, the premiere of his opera "Magic Mountain" took place, for which he received a number of awards, including the recognition of the Polish music community Koryfeusz Muzyki Polskiej (2015), the special award of the monthly "Teatr" (2015), the award of the Cyprian Kamil Norwid Local Government of the Mazowieckie Voivodeship (2017).
Paweł Mykietyn composes music for plays by Krzysztof Warlikowski. He is the author of music for films by Andrzej Wajda, Mariusz Treliński, Małgorzata Szumowska and Jerzy Skolimowski.
